The Role of Civil Society Institutions in Protecting Public Rights and Legitimate Freedoms

Civil society institutions, as one of the fundamental pillars of democratic societies, play a key role in protecting and promoting public rights and legitimate freedoms. By creating a space for citizen participation, promoting public awareness, and monitoring the performance of governments, these institutions can prevent violations of citizens' rights and freedoms. This article aims to examine the role and status of civil society institutions in protecting public rights and legitimate freedoms. By creating a space for citizen participation, monitoring the performance of governments, promoting public awareness, and supporting victims of rights violations, these institutions can be effective in achieving social justice, strengthening democracy, and sustainable development. Civil society institutions strengthen the legal system and provide sustainable solutions to protect public rights and legitimate freedoms through cooperation with international organizations and legal proposals and recommendations. In this study, using a descriptive-analytical approach, we examine and analyze the role of civil institutions in protecting public rights and legitimate freedoms. What is their contribution to civil society? The results of the study indicate that civil institutions, through activities such as monitoring government performance, advocacy, raising awareness, and providing public services, play a significant role in promoting the rights and freedoms of citizens; also, by advocacy, citizen rights, and defending violated rights, these institutions help strengthen the rule of law and create a just society. However, challenges such as legal restrictions, lack of financial resources, and political pressures affect the effectiveness of these institutions .
